Connecting to stayonline from hotel - help!

I found a suggestion to try on the Unix Forum. The problem appears to be
related to tcp_window_scaling. Typing the following as root in a shell
fixes the problem and let me connect:

echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_window_scaling

Apparently Vista has a similar problem when trying to connect to
stayonline.
