Hi,

I have observed something that I couldn't explain. I have i386 and
x86_64 DVD versions of F10. The mediacheck reports success for both
under a Dell Vostro 1200 laptop. I have installed the i386 version on
the Dell Vostro 1200 laptop without any issues. However, the Optiplex
740 developed a kernel panic.

Background information: Dell Optiplex 740, AMD Athlon X2 5200+, 5 GB (
2GB x 2, 512 MB x 2 ) RAM, 2 x 250 GB Hard disks

I was able to install the i386 version on the Optiplex 740 without
issues. However, since the machine has > 4 GB RAM, I wish to install the
x86_64 version as the primary OS.

There are 6 lines on the screen, that I can see on kernel panic, that
look like error messages.
--- start kernel panic message lines
RAMDISK: Couldn't find valid RAM disk image starting at 0.
EXT3-fs: unable to read superblock
isofs_fill_super: bread failed, dev=md2, iso_blknum=16, block=32
List of all partitions:
No filesystem could mount root, tried: ext3 iso9660
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
unknown-block(9,2)
--- end kernel panic message lines

Any ideas on overcoming this problem?

Thanks

Nandan Bhat
