actually it is 2 hyphens followed by '=20', not a blank, because he is using
 *Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable*, which is a waste.

i have thunderbird set to give a very light gray shade to sigs. after looking
at post again with <ctrl+u>, he started typing below sig of post he was
replying to.
