watch you next boot to see if you have 80x24 or a higher resolution.

if higher, you have a line in your 'grub.conf' that contains 'vga=nnn'.
'nnn' is setting to change screen from a normal default of 80x24 to what ever.

if you remove or comment out 'vga=nnn', you should get 80x24, unless it is
being changed by something in video module.

my 'grub.conf' has 'vga=794', iirc, and i boot with 120x54. makes for easy
watching of boot info.
