No.

I installed vmware-any-any-update117-itpsycho.tar.bz2 ***without*** 
installing vmware-any-any-update117d.tar.gz (and **without** the patch 
files belongig to the ...d version) so VMware-server-1.0.7-108231.i386 
now runs flawless.
