Udev / DVD naming

All,

How are dvd devices setup with regard to naming? I upgraded my
motherboard, cpu, memory and combined the HD and DVD-RW/CDRW onto the
same IDE channel (they were separated before one on primary, one on
secondary), and now my dvd and cdrw devices are showing up as the
following;

[root at xyz ~]# ls -la /dev/dvd*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2008-09-17 19:44 /dev/dvd3 -> sr0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2008-09-17 19:44 /dev/dvdrw3 -> sr0
[root at xyz ~]# ls -la /dev/cdr*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2008-09-17 19:44 /dev/cdrom3 -> sr0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 2008-09-17 19:44 /dev/cdrw3 -> sr0

Why arent they just /dev/dvd and /dev/cdrom, /dev/cdrw?

How can I make sure that they are (without a kludge like making /
changing a symbolic link in the startup scripts)?

Thanks,
Brian
