Can't switch to KDE

I have /etc/sysconfig/desktop
        DESKTOP="KDE"
        DISPLAYMANAGER="KDM"
on the Fedora-9 laptop I'm using now.
I'm pretty sure I didn't write it.

I did install Fedora from the KDE Live CD,
which might be relevant.
