latest yum updates included hal?

Greetings all;

Last night, after having yum do an update, amanda went start raving bonkers as 
if all the device major numbers of the disks have been changed.  I don't 
think they have, and the uptime is 5 days, so its not been rebooted.

Anybody have an idea what set amanda off to thinking it had to do a global 
level 0 in the middle of otherwise routine backups?
