F12 installation woes with DVD plus online repositories

My 2 cents:

I always get a minimal installation up and running - the smaller the 
better - then install non-standard packages like mplayer, mpg123, 
acroread, flash-plugin, etc. Then, install on demand anything else I 
might need (e.g. openoffice). For all the extra packages I need I have a 
bash script to install those automatically. I can post the script if you 
want.
