I'm not exactly sure, I think there may be a way to do this through 
gnome.  Also look at /usr/lib/pm-utils directory, maybe 
/usr/lib/pm-utils/pm-functions and /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video.  
Let us know if you figure it out.
