Error Message trying to ./configure

I also ran into another error mesage;

checking uuid/uuid.h usability... no
checking uuid/uuid.h presence... no
checking for uuid/uuid.h... no
configure: error: *** uuid headers not found!

The uuid.h is located at /usr/include/uuid.h ,  

What command would use to direct to that PATH, in fact where is the 
compile looking for  the  uuid.h ?
