How to update from rpm 4.4 to rpm 5.0

Personally I would recommend never installing stuff you happen to find
on random mirror sites. Stick with the Fedora provided packages
wherever possible, and if not possible, stick with trusted and
maintained 3rd party repos like rpmfusion.

That doesn't sound good.

Let's step back even further here. Why are you trying to compile a
local version of ntfs3g?

Yes, these packages are not ones you would want to use. 

Per other suggestions in the thread, why not upgrade to F10?
