One other point is that if you leave the machine with the gdm greeter
running it keeps going and never makes the monitor go to sleep - at least on
my machines - with kdm on the other hand the monitor goes to sleep after
some minutes - and in any event the kdm greeter is much prettier and more
sleek looking in my view.... as well as being configurable!
