That's often decided by the preference of your burner.  Some are equally happy 
with both formats, some work much better with one or the other.  I don't think 
there's any way to tell apart from trying.

You'll have to experiment.  Auto works fine if both your burner and your disks 
are good quality, but if you are having problems do try slower burns.  You'll 
have to be patient, though.  A 2x burn takes about 20mins. IIRC.

Can't answer that.  Maybe it's marginal and sometimes reads correctly?  Dunno.
