Fedora 11; sorry, I should have mentioned that.

        # rpm -qa | grep nfs
        nfs-utils-1.2.0-3.fc11.x86_64
        nfs-utils-lib-1.1.4-6.fc11.x86_64

My Samba shares still work.  Presumably you're not suggesting that
should mount an NFS4 export.
