I also keep Fedora-n and Fedora-(n+1) on different partitions
(with the same /home).
It has saved me on several occasions.
I haven't had any problems with sharing /home ,
at least for the last 3 or 4 versions.

I do think, with today's enormous disks, that this should be
more or less standard advice.
