firefox & thunderbird both spontaneously crash since upgrading from F10 -> F11

I also had a problem with both of them not working when I upgraded.  So 
I re-installed both of them and moved the .mozilla and .thunderbird 
folders from the home directory to a temporary directory and the problem 
disappeared.  Of course, this was after a lot of time and experiementing 
to find the problem.  I find that the problem may be that Firefox 3.5 
sometimes has a problem transitioning plugins and addons from previous 
versions.
