mplayer and DRI failure

Since a recent update, I can no longer use mplayer.
It freezes after two seconds with the meassage:
[VD_FFMPEG] DRI failure.0.040 ct: -0.004 0/ 0 ??% ??% ??,?% 0 0
A: 0.0 V: 0.2 A-V: -0.159 ct: -0.012 0/ 0 ??% ??% ??,?% 0 0

In /var/log/Xorg.0.log is the line:
(II) AIGLX: Screen 0 is not DRI capable

How do I fix this?
What should I be looking for?
