Of course, if you've been following the FSF on the matter, you might have
learned that the GPL3 was published on 29 June 2007:

Unfortunately, countrary to the GPL2. I never got to read this senseless
mumbo-jumbo, I can't even fathom under which version Torvalds himself
licenses the kernel.

Fortunately, there's Debian. They must be very v3 :)
