Managing .rpmnew files?

Hi Folks,

Is there a standard way to manage the .rpmnew files created on "yum
update"?  It would seem the updates should be "merged" into the locally
modified files when appropriate but there should be something better than
"find / -name '*.rpmnew'" and manually checking the new definitions.
