Seems this works: Edit /etc/fstab and change ext3 to ext4dev for the device you want to convert. Probably best to keep /boot as ext3 for now, though. touch /forcefsck reboot. Might as well boot into single user. fcsk is forced. after fsck reboot again. Here's some info: http://kernelnewbies.org/Ext4
