Stan,

I don't think the problem is thrashing. top in the F2 console:

top - 15:00:22 up 1 day, 17:39, 0 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
Tasks: 77 total, 1 running, 74 sleeping, 0 stopped, 2 zombie
CPU(s): 0.3%us, 0.3%sy, 0.0%ni, 99.7%id, 0.0%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.0%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 510192k total, 493620k used, 16572k free, 133120k buffers
Swap: 1049528k total, 492100k used, 557428k free, 77424k cached

Every 20-30 seconds 'hald-addon-stor' pops up in the list of COMMAND
tasks. Less frequently I'll see 'hald' and 'anaconda' appear for one top
cycle.

It would be neat to know how to zoom in and watch anaconda at work. I
may have a rare opportunity here to, with expert guidance, gain some
insights into how anaconda actually works at the molecular level. If
it's possible to alter/repair its operation while running, that ability
could be of real value to remote installers.
