Fedora 11 - Cannot Set Screen Resolution

I have just upgraded from Fedora 7 to Fedora 11 (was a bit of a process). I am running kernel 2.6.30.8-64.fc11.i686.PAE on a HP nc6220 notebook which has an Intel chipset - I believe the notorious i915.

My problem is that I cannot set my monitor to run at anything but 1024x768 in X. When I run system-config-display I get an error "Window manager warning: Fatal IO error 111 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on display ':17,0'"

In dmesg I see that some process [drm] DAC-6: set mode to 1024x768.

I am going blind!!!

This is virtually unusable and I will be forced to upgrade to Fedora 7 if I can't fix it.
