f11, endless messages: kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0

NO! its a read failure on the floppy disk drive! relax!

what i am less sure how to know whats the attempt (probly a system 
status process) to read it, ...

if you do,  (might need sudo?)

dmesg > /tmp/foo

then do

vi /tmp/foo

then in vi, do a

ctl-g

to hop to end of file, ...

do you see any device errors with regard to the floppy? /dev/fd0 , etc?
