It's not yet easy, for rather esoteric reasons.  As part of my persistence work, 
I intend to have a user management tool that makes it easy.  Hopefully within a 
couple weeks so that it can make it into f8t2 or f8t3.

If you really want to research it, take a look in mayflower of livecd-tools, how 
the copy on write is implemented with devicemapper and tmpfs.
