Actually, when the sendmail people announced they were rewriting
sendmail from scratch, it woke up even PHBs. Even when they don't know
tech they realise a full rewrite means deep trouble in the codebase.

So today you have :
- small non-critical MTAs : will use whatever is bundled with the OS
- bigger/more critical projects -> these days it's not sendmail but one
of its alternatives (which one comes first vary)
- very uncommon deployments which need sendmail high-end features ->
will use sendmail (but I doubt they run Fedora anyway)

I work in a big corp which is very conservative and is usually lagging a
few years behind the IT market, and even it dumped sendmail several
years ago for its corporate-level MTA infrastructure.
