building python-imaging1.1.5 on top of python-imaging1.1.6

hi all:

I may need to build a previous version of the source on top of a build 
that has the newest version.  Been asking around the office and the 
general conclusion is that I must use epoch to deal with this issue.
Does anybody have any other suggestion that might lead to some different 
solution?
