[Fedora-marketing-list] Wave of end-user questions

Just preceding this message is the latest wave of end-user messages delivered
to info at fedoraproject.org. These are usually simple end-user questions that
need simple answers. RTFM-type messages are unacceptable, but if you feel
that you can answer some of these questions, please feel free to give it a
try.

When you answer one of these messages, trim the [fedora-marketing-list] part
of the subject and CC this list. Make sure the To field is set to the user
and not this list. Right now, the Reply-To header on incoming messages is
set to the list. I'm going to change that as soon as I finish this message.

The info@ alias used to be pointed to the Fedora Ambassadors Steering
Committee, but that group decided that it could not handle these queries. I
know that readers of this list may not like this solution, and I'm open to
other suggestions. Here are some thoughts I've had for alternatives:

 1. New mailing list
We could create a new mailing list specifically to handle this task. This
would have the advantage of being dedicated and not polluting a list that
already has another directive. The problem would be getting enough people
subscribed to handle the incoming questions and finding one or more people to
filter out the spam.

 2. Ticketing system
We could point the alias at the Ticket System with its own queue. This
solution is similar to a new mailing list, and it would suffer the same
problems.

 3. Replace info@ listing with an HTML form
Instead of listing a contact address, we could build an online help and
feedback system that would allow users to punch their questions in online.
This would eliminate most spam. The messages would still need to be fed to a
mailing list or to the Ticket System. If anyone wants to tackle this, let me
know and I'll point you in the right direction.
