Can you give us an idea of what programming you are capable of doing so that we can point you in the right direction. Is it Java, C, C++, PHP, Python...... All of those languages bar possibly Java at the moment are used extensively in Linux. There are numerous projects that are looking for contributions. Can you also provide some form of interest you might have in programming. Working on something you enjoy is a lot better than working on something that you don't. If you provide what area or field interests you someone might be able to provide more advise regarding what projects might require assistance. If you are trying to learn how to program in linux itself and you have no experience in programming. Pick a language that interests you again then I might be able to point you in the direction of some very helpful tutorials. > plz help.... > > I need My SQL version3.0 for my computer. All versions before Fedora Core 5 is EOL'ed and wont receieve any updates at all. If it's a installer bug it cant be fixed within a release but for severe bugs a respin of the boot image or updated installer image has been provided before. At any case, it would be useful to file a bug report so that we can ensure that the same bug is not retained in future releases. That's a very wide ranging topic list. It's like asking for a guide on how to be successful! :-) Some good Linux programming overview books: http://www.amazon.com/Beginning-Linux-Programming-Third-Matthew/dp/0764544977/ http://www.amazon.com/Linux-Application-Development-Michael-Johnson/dp/0321219147/ If you're not skilled in C/C++, you might want to try O'Reilly's "Practical C" and/or "Practical C++" books. I'm sure there are many other good volumes. There are also numerous PHP books out there -- try searching Amazon. I see that SAMS has a "Teach Yourself PHP" book, for example. You said that you were a programmer what did you specialise in? Developing applications in linux is like developing applications in windows the only difference is its open source and generally you have lots of people who comment on your code. It really does depend on what you are chasing. I have a few links as well but really its dependant on what you want.
