30-keymap-olpc.fdi move from hal-info considered harmful?

Sayamindu, rwh, and Team OLPC,

Please reconsider the resolution of
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=514081 . Currently the
resolution of this bug -- moving the file from the hal-info rpm to the
olpc-utils rpm -- means olpc-utils must be installed for the
30-keymap-olpc.fdi file mapping the XO-1{,.5} keys to be installed.

The problem with this is that olpc-utils brings in a raft of changes
that are inappropriate for non-OLPC installs of Fedora. For example,
the "olpc" user is assumed to exist, its homedir is written to, and
olpc-dm is installed as the default display manager with the user
"olpc" as the auto-login user. This breaks X startup unless the olpc
user exists.

Is there a better resolution that allows XO-1 keys to be recognised
on a F12 timeframe without olpc-utils's other changes?

Perhaps just putting the latest 30-keymap-olpc.fdi from
http://dev.laptop.org/git/projects/olpc-utils/plain/etc/hal/fdi/information/30-keymap-olpc.fdi
back into the hal-info package?

Thanks,
Martin
