at-spi allows assistive technologies to access GTK-based
applications. Essentially it exposes the internals of applications for
automation, so tools such as screen readers, magnifiers, or even
scripting interfaces can query and interact with GUI controls.

Update Information:

The at-spi libraries in FC5 contain a reference counting
bug that causes all desktop applications to crash on 64bit
systems if accessibility support is enabled.

The updated packages contain a fix for this problem.
