Fedora Update Notification
2007-08-08 08:30:38.193830

Name : pbzip2
Product : Fedora 7
Version : 1.0.2
Release : 2.fc7
Summary : Parallel implementation of bzip2
Description :
PBZIP2 is a parallel implementation of the bzip2 block-sorting file
compressor that uses pthreads and achieves near-linear speedup on SMP
machines. The output of this version is fully compatible with bzip2
v1.0.2 or newer (ie: anything compressed with pbzip2 can be
decompressed with bzip2).

Update Information:

The ability to directly compress files without using threads when files are smaller than the specified block size or the system only has 1 CPU was added. This will speed things up considerably if you are compressing many small files. Support for automatically specifying decompression mode when using a pbunzip2 symbolic link was added. The pbzip2 exit code behavior was changed to match bzip2 for all error states.
