PulseAudio is a sound server for Linux and other Unix like operating
systems. It is intended to be an improved drop-in replacement for the
Enlightened Sound Daemon (ESOUND).

Update Information:

If PA was terminated forcibly (which is very often the case when run from KDE
since KDE seems to start PA before setting up XSMP which leaves us with no way
to know in advance of X11 connection termination which in libX11 results in
forced exit()) PA doesn't remove its PID files. When PA is then started again PA
only checked those PID files as far as too see if there was a process by that
PID around. Often enough it turned out there was one -- but not actually
PulseAudio. PA needs to check if the existing process is actually PA, and only
then assume it is already running. The applied patch fixes that.
