Description :
mkinitrd creates filesystem images for use as initial ram filesystem
(initramfs) images.  These images are used to find and mount the root
filesystem.

Update Information:

This update fixes a bug which caused mkinitrd to generate an initrd which could
not boot the system when all of the following  happened:  1) / is a linear
Logical Volume  2) The Volume Group to which this LV belongs has PV's spanning
multiple disks  3) The / LV only uses some of the disks that have PV's of the
VG    Merely applying this update is not enough to fix this, you also need to
regenerate your initrd by executing the following commands as root:  mv
/boot/initrd-$(uname -r).img /boot/initrd-$(uname -r).img.old  mkinitrd
/boot/initrd-$(uname -r).img $(uname -r)    There is a (very small) chance that
this will render your system unbootable with the kernel you are running when
executing this command. If this happens you can still boot another kernel, or
you can edit your boot commands in the bootloader (grub) and append .old to the
initrd line.
