Why? Has Fedora ever shipped a kernel with the required capabilites enabled for
this to be of any use? Planet CCRMA did so at one stage but that was a fair
while ago.

Why? What is wrong with the default /dev/shm directory?

I'm also wondering if all the backends are needed, can you think of a good
reason not to disable the port audio and oss backends?
