No, I can't think of anything off hand. It should be ok to use what you have in
-11 but just set the osgi.sharedConfiguration.area property:

java -cp $SDK/startup.jar \
     -Dosgi.sharedConfiguration.area=%{_libdir}/eclipse/configuration \
     ....
