The problem is that the link command for vdrift gets passed:
-Lbullet-2.64/out/linuxx86/optimize/libs
instead of:
-Lbullet-2.64/out/linuxppc/optimize/libs

Various solutions:
-patch configure (learn it about ppc64) (I guess)
-sed the Makefile after %configure (on ppc64 only)
-create a symlink (on ppc64 only)
