This is unexpected, didn't know that could happen.

I have chacked in what I think is a fix into CVS.

You might also try the "--sounddevice" option and see if that helps.

e.g.:

wordwarvi --sounddevice 0

(or try numbers 0-5 to select between your 6 sound devices.
