The first priority is the source code. In this case:

$ grep -i license * -R

gives a bunch of
gnome-colors-common/scalable/devices/gnome-dev-symlink.svg:        <cc:license

rdf:resource="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/GPL/2.0/" />

so the license is clearly GPLv2.
