Agree.  That's an unfortunate solution if it's long-term, but it's a reasonable
short-term solution *AND* it would definitely help narrow down where the bug
is.

Please modify the spec so that it'll be easy to switch back to "normal" emacs
or xemacs.  It's my hope that using *emacs-nox is a relatively temporary
solution.

Your earlier patch modified "exit-pvs-process" by replacing (sit-for 1) with
(accept-process-output nil 1).  Although it's a nasty hack, you could instead
repeatedly (1) wait for 1 second using sleep, then (2) use "system" to invoke
"ps" directly and see if the process is gone.  Yeah, that's a nasty hack. 
Might work, though.
