The RPM is IIRC 3.1MB (gzip'd), and the pdf file in %doc is just a couple of
hundred KB. Splitting a separate -doc is only required for large documentation
(compared to the rest of package).

Of course, considering that only a small fraction of users actually want that
pdf, branching might be a good idea. Savings of a couple of hundred KB adds up
when you have thousands of downloaders.

Were you really running it as root? That might pose a lot of problems, starting
from pulseaudio.
