That would definitely be simpler. However, this involves two changes that I am
not prepared to make at this time. Namely, the change from GPL to LGPL and the
change from the specific, known version of the license to some future version
which will have terms and conditions that I have no control over. So at the
moment adding the above exception seems like the simplest way forward.
