For the moment I've used:

  Version: 0.1
  Release: 0.1.r11

Ignore the Version number for now - I can change that to just be '0'
later if necessary.

How about the Release number: Isn't it more correct to use 0.<n>.r<mm>
instead of <n>.r<mm>?  (I mean, in case upstream decides to use 0 or
0.1 as a real version number later on?)
