Problem with installing a new harddisk...

  Thank you, Dan, for your prompt reply.  "Lonely Wolf" is correct.  It
  was a problem of the "labeling" of filesystems.  My "new" harddisk
  was an old one which has a copy of linux from years ago.  After
  playing around with the fstab and the boot up options, I can finally
  get the thing to boot.
