RPM broken when 2.6.0 test kernel installed?

No, FIRST:
rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db.*

THEN try it out. More often than not (OK, every time so far) when things
like this have happened, this one step alone has resolved by problem w/o
needing a reboot, OR a rebuild of the rpm database.
