Hmm, it worked here with a loaned Sony USB Digicam (plug it in, wait a
moment, mount /mnt/camera). What's really missing is that already
running apps (nautilus) realize that there's a new mountable device so
you can just "right-click -> Disks -> Camera" to access the pictures.
