dimension 4600 ich5 sound card drive

Hi,
 I noticed that it appears the ich5 driver for the dell dimension 4600
integrated sound card is now supported in the 2.4.22pre kernels. Any
possibility of backporting (or side-porting) this driver into the red
hat kernels for severn or the next beta?

This hardware is becoming more common and supporting this out of the box
would be handy.
