Perhaps I should have been more clear in my reply as it looks like you
are doing things the hard way...if you go to the main menu/system
settings/network and type in the root password, you should get the
network configuration gui...select the hardware tab and either edit (if
an ethernet device exists) or new (or if everything is blank, perhaps
run the wizard from the devices tab).  From there you should be able to
select the SysKonnect SK-98xx Gigabit driver from the list of modules
supplied with the kernel rpm.  This certainly is true for the standard
2.4 Fedora kernels...it is working with both i686 and x86_64
installations here...I'm not running any of the Fedora 2.6 kernels so I
can't say what happens there but I would be surprised to find the
sk98lin driver wasn't included.  Of course, for a custom kernel, you
have to make sure the SysKonnect driver will get built during
configuration.
