... my sincere apologies: I didn't check, before I opened my trap:

$ rpm -qa | grep gdm
gdm-2.4.4.0-2

I did a clean install on Sunday night, and sure enough RHN update
installed 2.4.4.0-2... 

[... now back into my corner with duct-taped lips...]
