XCDRoast - cannot read image

It still looks like magicdev is "interfering"... yesterday, I copied an
audio CD (as a test), and though I closed nautilus record, I didn't
kill off magicdev.

X-CD-Roast completed the burn, but complained of "errors". Nevertheless, 
the tracks on the 'new' CD play without any problems.
